The story

Not Worthy

I made this shirt to honor the martyrs, men and women who gave their lives for the One who gave His life for them.

The word martyr comes from the Greek word for witness. Their deaths were their last word about Jesus, and the gospel has reached us partly through what they paid. I don’t want us to forget that.

Paul wrote, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21, ESV). Dying meant being with Christ, which he called far better (Philippians 1:23). Those who died trusting Him are with Him now.

The verse behind this shirt is Hebrews 11:37–38:

“They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword… of whom the world was not worthy” (Hebrews 11:37–38, ESV)

Those verses are about people who trusted God when it cost them everything. The world threw them away. God says the world didn’t deserve them.

Lord, let this shirt be a sign of hope to whoever sees it. Use it to start conversations about Your Son and what He did for us on the cross. And help those of us who wear it to live like those faithful witnesses did.
